THE CONTEST

I am giving away a very cute tree skirt. I made one, and had enough extra that I thought I had better make the other. I will put the tutorial in a few days. I have the pictures and the finished product, but not downloaded on the computer yet. All you have to do is leave a comment, or come to my Open House (I will put names in a Santa Hat and draw it at 1:00pm at my Open House). You do not need to be present to win.

This Diaper cake has been sold (donated to an auction). But it is cute and it shows my latest "creation". The "Mommy Clip" and the "Baby Clip".

The Mommy Clip can be used in several ways. It can be used as around your next to hold up a blanket/nursing cover-up, or it could be used to hold a blanket to a carseat or stroller.

The Baby Clip is one of my favorite creations. It can be used as a binkie clip, a blanket clip (to hold to a carseat or stroller) and my favorite part... just wrap around the back of your childs neck and attach it to a wash rag or hand towel and use it as a bib.

My First Craft Fair

My first show was a bust. It was an outside Craft Fair. The wind blew and blew and we were rained out by noon. Most people stayed home. The set up was horrible. I paid for a front row booth and most of the other "front row" booths stayed home, so people were actually parking next to my booth. There was only 2 of us on a row of about 10 booths and most went to the inside rows (booths on both sides). And there really wasn't many people there. I made some money, made very good contacts, learned a lot and am now ready for my next show. I will also be opening up my Etsy shop. I will start posting info about each item this week.

I will also have a drawing for everyone that is a follower and there will be a nice prize each week, starting Monday, June 29th.

Twilight Lip Gloss and more

It came today! Twilight LipGloss...
Edward's Kiss, Chillin' Girls since 1901, I love Edward, This is your brain on Twilight and Bite me... all in Vampire Ice Flavor (very cool feeling and smooth).

And I got some Werewolf too. I love Jacob and Imprinted for Life. In Werewolf Fire Flavor (very hot feeling and rougher than most glosses)

This sells for $5 at a lot of boutiques (and is always sold out). I have been trying to get this for my daughter since Christmas and the one boutique that carries it, has been out since then. I haven't seen anywhere else. I will sell it for $3 each, or 4 for $10. This will be at the Craft Fair on Saturday. If I sell out, I will backorder it and get it in a few weeks.

So Blessed Frame- Perfect for Mother's Day

Introducing the So Blessed Frame

This is a frame to either show in your house or give as a Gift (Mother's Day is right around the corner). There is a screen over the scrap paper, and is suppose to hold a magnet... but silly me, I didn't take a magnet to Home Depot to make sure it was really a metal screen (even though that is what I asked for). So I will update the picture with the right screen later)
When: April 14th
What Time: 7:00 pm

What do you need?
Frame (I got mine from Robert's Craft $9.99 and used the 40% off coupon)
Paint (I used White and have plenty- please do not go and purchase paint)
Stain (I used dark Walnut and have more than plenty-again, please do not go and purchase any. And is not required)
Sanding blocks or sand paper (to rough the edges)
I have plenty of foam brushes
I am working on getting a better screen and will have to purchase a whole roll (so don't go out and buy any).
The Metal holder on top is from Crafter Corner and is for $3.99. If anyone needs me to pick one up for them before Tuesday, just email me.
A clothe to wipe stain off (just an old rag)
A piece of scrapbook paper (unless you are looking for something specific, I have plenty of paper).

** Forgot to list earlier*** Ribbon... 1 1/2 yard (to make the bows).

I also have the black vinyl and the Cricut machine with a few fonts. If you want a different color, you can purchase that almost anywhere.

And Magnets. I will have stuff to make a few magnets or you could just use any magnets.

I am receiving a lot of comments back about my site, but no one has yet to post a comment to this site. I do love the feedback and I would like to know what you guys are thinking. I want to make a product and site that works, without a lot of trial and error- when it comes to expenses. And as we all know, blogging is pretty much free.

Comments so far-
I like your site, but the black is a little too dark for me. Make it brighter.

It's fun to look at all of your product, but maybe there is a way to just simplify it. Just pick a few of your best pieces. The video takes too long to load.

Can I order your products now? Or do I have to wait til Monday to find out?

Pink Lady Boutique at AF Hospital

Here is the items I have recently made to donate to the Pink Ladies' Fundraiser at American Fork Hospital. It is one of the funnest boutiques I have ever been too. It is Friday, November 14th starting at 8 am until it is sold out. It is at the American Fork Hospital, by the pink shop. You can't miss it. I am getting ready to do my own little boutique with some friends. I was hoping by the end of the month, but before Christmas for sure.

Stay tuned. My etsy shop opens next week. And there will be a contest listed. I would have listed it by now, but I am waiting for my internet provider change on Tuesday before I do anything. I want to make sure it goes smoothly.

Hitting a brick wall

Much to my dismay, I have hit a big brick wall. I don't know how to get past this issue and if I don't, the money spent is going down the drain.

I purchased a Cricut Expression a year or so ago. I thought that it would be a great investment into starting a business of my own. In talking to their wholesale people today, I just found out that you can't use anything cut by the cricut on your website. I can't even cut out cards for my bows or headbands or bracelets and list them for sale on my website. I can cut out things that can be sold at a temporary stand alone location. So, does that limit me to only using that stuff for a boutique? I am severely disappointed. You are only told this if you want to purchase their items wholesale. I have gone through the whole process to get a business license, resale certificate, tax id and a business name (not cheap). What would you do? Is it all a bust?

Why I started making my own things

It's a common question asked by my family. I really don't know the answer to that question other than it is what I love to do to keep myself busy. I used to have some bad habits that I just dropped one day and I needed to find something else to do. Not to sound conceited or anything like that, but I would go to craft fairs, stores (any fun place like that) and I would see something that could be improved. So I decided to start doing it for family and friends. I usually think completely outside the box. I am not the kind of person who goes with the flow and really not a box kind of person. I like splashes. Although you would never guess it, unless you knew me well.

I have found things that I like and love. I have found things that challenge me. It is kinda sad sometimes, because as soon as I think I have mastered something I have to move onto a new project. My husband is very supportive of this habit, although at times I think that he might just be hoping that I will finish all of the other projects that I have going. I am going to one day, or maybe they are just started projects for my kids. I don't know.

I developed a habit that my grandmother had. She could spend all day in a fabric/craft store and buy hundreds of dollars of the most interesting things. I would be so embarrassed to have to carry out the things that she bought on clearance, because it was cheap and she knew just what to do with it. And then she would take it home and turn it into the most amazing things you had ever seen. She was the most amazing person I have know. She was my best friend and closer to me than a mother ever could be. She died of multiple myeloma 10 years ago this Christmas. I am sure I will share many stories about her in the future as I talk about my crafts. There is plenty of history behind my crafting abilities and a lot of stories. I am very grateful for all that I learned from her.

Placing Orders and/or Learning how to make Bows

I have been contacted by a few people for possible Super Saturday classes, enrichment classes or just to teach people how to make bows. I have several options available-

I am available to teach anyone how to make bows.
I can make most bows and am learning every day how to make different bows.
I will sell bows that I have made.
I make and sell Diaper Cakes
I can teach anyone to make Diaper Cakes
I make and sell baby bracelets (with matching mother bracelets)
I can teach anyone to make these bracelets
I am in the process of coming up with some new items, that I will be able to post by Monday.

I live in Utah County.

I am working on getting pictures posted in a slide show, but trying to learn to watermark them before I do is proving to be a bit difficult.

Things got a little hectic over the past few weeks. And I am back now. I am going to be focusing at least an hour every day on my website design and this blog (minus Sundays), until I get things up and going. I am still learning as I go. I do not have any webdesign degree or experience, but am learning as I go. I do love crafts, so I will post them as well.

One of the biggest downfalls I have, with learning how to do all of this, is the lack of wanting to share knowledge. I am amazed at the people that I have met that don't want to share any information- such as how to make things, how to find supplies at a good price, or even what things are made of. I don't have any problem in sharing this information. I have been finding most of these things through KSL free classified ads. I am actually using mostly stay at home moms. I hope to be able to list their items on my website to help them out as well. Kind of like a constant craft fair. But that is in the future.

Starting From Scratch

I am a Stay at Home Mom and would like to keep it that way. This is my path and journey of starting a website, starting a business and I guess blogging about it. I am learning as I go and would really like to share with other stay at home moms, how to do this at little-to no cost.

I purchased a domain name at godaddy.com. It is www.makingitminetoo.com and I am having them host for a year. I purchased my domain name for a year (planning to renew it for longer if I can get this company up and going) but I thought I would give myself a chance to see if I can make a go of it.

I am trying to design a webpage right now, but not having much luck with that. I am a very creative person who learns things rather quickly, so I am hoping to get some books and be able to get going with it.

I will make a list of the crafts I do, and have some pictures up shortly. I am doing a lot of researching and reading after the kids go to bed at night. I am actually working during nap time right now. Hope to see you all soon.
